Broken Flowers

I tried to do bit of weeding in the wild flowers tonight. It appears that I may have an elephant ear growing there. I had a few teeny-tiny ones to plant and thought why not plant it in the open area of the wild flower garden.

Anyway, back to the weeding. There's some really crazy vine-like weeds that wrap around and bring down my flowers. I did a bad job unwrapping one and took out a few flowers.... so, why not enjoy them in the house.

Tossing a Ball

So, one way to get the dog to sit still is to throw the tennis ball a half a gazillion times in the backyard.

Chocolate Pudding and My Brother

Sometimes the different things that remind me of friends or family strike me as being quite odd. I made banana and chocolate pudding the other day. Tonight I served up some chocolate pudding and immediately thought of Tom.

If memory serves me right, I had my wisdom teeth taken out over a fall break early on in college. Mom and Dad made sure there were plenty of soft foods in the house for me to consume in the coming days. Still loopy on the meds I decided to get some chocolate pudding.

I spooned the pudding into the bowl and noticed some lumps. At first I thought it just didn't get stirred will enough, but then I noticed the lumps were actually hard. With my mind thinking of everything imaginable, I chucked all the pudding.

Later that evening, when everyone was back home... the pudding I tossed got brought up. Apparently, Tom thought it would be fun to throw some chocolate pudding Jelly Bellys into the chocolate pudding.

Here there and everywhere.

I apparently had ants in my pants this week, and it all started on Wednesday.

WEDNESDAY: I ventured over the Iadipaolo's after taking Sparky for his walk. I got a chance to take a short walk with Sandra and Sofia, Sofia showed off her bicycling skills. Her bike is stylin with the streamers coming out of the handle bars.

THURSDAY: I headed over to the parents house because it'd been a while since I'd seen everyone. Dad had been out of town for work, and Grandpa was out of town the week before visiting my uncle's family. Since it was rainy, no walk for the Sparkster, so I picked up Chinese and headed out. Had a nice dinner with all and even surprised Mom with some hot and sour soup.

FRIDAY: Gearing up for the release of Sex in the City, Stephanie was planning on watching the original movie for the first time. I jokingly said Spark and I could join. Little did I know that her family was out of town for the weekend and she could have a girls night. She did let me bring Sparky, so Reggie wouldn't feel out of place at the girls night. I tried to video, but they didn't turn out. All you see is flashes of Sparky, the lighter colored dog, fly by. It was pretty cool to see.

SATURDAY: Mom had a hair appointment in town, so she stopped by for lunch and to help me pick out flowers for the yard. We got all the flowers planted in the yard. Then today, to my surprise, it appears that one of the purple elephant ears is going to make an appearance. We shall see.

Back Flowerbed

After Mom headed out, I still had ants in my pants. I called up T & L. They weren't up to much, so I asked if I could bring over some buffalo burgers for Tom to grill up. Excellent decision! Got to visit with them and now I have some leftover burgers for the next couple of days.

Here's some crazy looking bush they have in their backyard. It has soooo many flowers, it looks like it got TP'ed.

SUNDAY: This morning I worked out in the yard and now need to finish up the laundry. I gave in and turned the air conditioning on today. I just couldn't get cooled off after the yardwork and giving Sparky a bath.

I did enjoy one of the buffalo burgers for lunch and may even have one for dinner...mmm. I really need to not be afraid of my grill. Tom, wanna help me figure that thing out one of these days? I'm afraid that somehow I'm going to lose my eyebrows, or watch the grill skyrocket through the neighborhood.

Wildflowers and Elephant Ears

I bought wildflower seeds the last couple of years, but did not this year. The volunteers have gotten to become regulars and have filled up most of the flowerbed, except on the corner where Sparky has over watered them.
I looked at the elephant ears and noticed that only three have come up and they are all green. That's when I remembered only three green ones grew last year and I had to buy two extras and they were purple. Of course, this dawns on me after I've planted them in the wrong order. It'll be interesting to see if the purple ones come up. If they do, I may have to rearrange them. Anyway, here's one of the green ones. I also have a gaggle of cannas coming up!

Yet another day.

So I took the Sparkster for a walk after work, making sure we got it in before the rain comes back again. Along the way I decided some La Gondola bread sounded good, but it was soooo windy I didn't want to try to call in my order on the cell phone. I never thought asking for a loaf of bread at the pickup window would be a problem. The guy was a complete pain in the butt and I had to call the restaurant from outside the pickup window in order to get a loaf of bread. Talk about a stickler for the rules!

Anyway, now I'm back at home debating on whether or not I should write-off La Gondola for good or not. Not sure if dude was just an ass or if there really is a weird restaurant rule.

So now I'm typing about it online to see if anyone has some insight. While doing so, Jinkies decided to join me on the couch to watch the bunnies outside the window in Mary's yard. His tail is always quite active when stalking and my face just happened to be in the path of his tail. Nothing like a cat tail whapping you in the eyeball.

Closing in on the end of the week.

This has been quite the long week. Or maybe last weekend went by too quickly. Either way, I'm extremely glad the work week is starting to come to a close. Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for a less rocky couple of days. I truly believe everything will work out for the best and more than anything, lessons will be learned. Heck, we wouldn't have made it this far if we didn't have teamwork. Gotta love my coworkers for always giving it their all.

Time to sign off. My battery is almost dead and the impending thunderstorm is keeping me from plugging in. Shoot, better let the dog out before it starts to pour!

Just Chilling

I'm just relaxing this evening. Still trying to figure out what to have for dinner. I already did the dishes, so I can fix absolutely anything I want. Trouble is, nothing sounds good. I guess you'll have that. Chances of me having a bowl of Life cereal at this point are starting to increase.

Not sure what's going on this weekend. I should really buy some plants for my garden and get that planted... big decisions on which vegetables to plant this year. I'm also really looking forward to this week's episode of Saturday Night Live. Betty White plus all my favorite ladies, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Molly Shannon and May Rudolph.

Fun, fun, and more fun!

Had another noisy day at work, so I apparently decided to share the noisiness with fans down at O'Brien Field. Okay, maybe it was just the bi-product of my high sugar intake. I enjoyed some frozen yogurt this afternoon. Had I known Dairy Queen was going to be at the game giving out free blizzards, I would not have cashed in my free frozen yogurt coupon. Yes, I should have passed on the blizzard, but it was Oreo.

So anyway, had a couple free hot dogs and some peanuts at the game. Follow this up with catching a frisbee with a free taco coupon attached and then snagging a free Chiefs shirt. I also got to cheer Jim on as he caught a softee ball and tracked down foul ball. Talk about excitement. Oh, and did I mention I had The World's Best Kettle corn, which included some popcorn brittle (crazy sugary chuck of the sweet and salty coating... mmmmmm...mmmmm...Good!)

Yep, I was on fire tonight. To the extent that I cracked myself up so good I was crying. Quality, I know! Not sure if I scared the Angell's or not... but I do know that Laura didn't want to sit next to me. Tom, hope you're getting that hearing back in your right ear.
Glad all could come to the game... I had a blast. Hope we can do it again real soon. Just glad you all kept me off the field so I wouldn't get tazered.

P.S. The Chiefs had a great comeback win! Still trying to calm down from all the excitement.

What I did today.

Today was a long day with a sinus headache and my head spinning around at work. I never knew I could so many things within the last hour of work. Oh wait, I was supposed to leave at 4:30, but had to stay to 5.

Anyway, I've had a pretty relaxing evening. Had dinner with the pets and then got my hair cut. I snagged Jinkies for this photo. If you know him, the kiss on the top of head means, "Please let me down", in Jinkies sign language.

Kind of curious to how the hair will look tomorrow when I don't do anything with it.
There you have it.

Round 3 - Jane vs Yucca

Only time will tell if the 2 hours worth of digging tonight have accomplished anything. I sure as heck hope that this frickin' yucca plant doesn't come back.I'm tired!

ADDITION: I guess I should note that this is the lovely root system of the yucca plant. I dug up 7 small plants and gave them to Stephanie over the weekend. I don't recall how many Tom and Laura took last year, and I couldn't find a photo of the roots Tom helped me hack out. And, a year before that, Mom and Dad took the large yucca plants.

Random Phone Photos

I woke up this morning around 4am to a purring and drooling Jinkies in my face. This happens on a rare occasion to this extent, so I figured he must have really needed some attention. Sure enough, I ended up being wide away and couldn't fall back asleep. To the couch to fall infront of the TV I went. The lack of quality sleep has lead me to have heavy eyelids this evening and a lack of motivation. I thought I could at least pull some photos off my phone and post them.

Here's Jinkies trying to sleep the other evening as I took his photo with the flash on.
I finally did some grocery shopping last night. I stopped by Schnucks and was pleasantly surprised to see that they have special tags on the shelves to help indicate the organic products. After that I went to Alwan's to pick up meat for the week. In the parking lot, I saw some triplets sitting in a Ram Truck. They were too cute!
One of those things that makes you do a double take. Between the stickers, bumper and Elmo... this van was just screaming for a picture to be taken. I'm not sure if this is a normal occurrence in Manito or not?
One of the projects at work I've been working on is called Dare2Demo - Outfit Your Crew. I've had to price out different safety clothing and have received many samples. I think Charlie had too much Diet Coke on this day because he decided it would be a good idea to model all the gear and go direct traffic on Prospect.
Here's a photo from the last game night at the Iadipaolo's. We played Quelf and I had to make a "mask". That was after I had to put on lipstick. I'm still surprised Sandra didn't give me a brighter color.
