Classic Case of Ants in the Pants

What I did on my birthday...
-Woke up at 12:15am to find out Amanda had a healthy baby boy... yeah!
-Got out of bed at 7:30 to feed Jinkies and accept his gift of a hairball.
-Paid bills and watched my first episode of Melrose Place, oh the drama.
-Went on my first trip out of the house to the bank ans stopped at Borders to pickup my Olympic edition of Sports Illustrated.
-Ate a late lunch.
-Took my second trip out of the house to mosey around Big Lots.
-Stopped by work to deliver some Sugary Birthday Treats to those unfortunate ones that had to work on such a special day.
-Got a great deal on Lean Cuisines at Kroger!
-Packed the freezer and called Tom to see what's up.
-Tom picked me up for my third trip out of the house, which landed us at the Red Cross to give blood. (Glad I finally went with someone... wasn't nearly as scary as I would have expected. If they want my blood again, I'll gladly stop on by.)
-Final trip out of the house lead be to Grand Prairie to donate all my pennies, nickels, and dimes to my 104.9 morning DJ's who are broadcasting out there for the week to help raise money for St. Jude. If you happen to pass by Grand Prairie at any time this week, please drop off your extra change to John and Pesto between Borders and Linens n' Things... you can't miss the pool, deck, and tent.
-I finally made my way home to eat my pork chop dinner with a side of La Gondola garlic bread and some freshly picked sugar snap peas.

Before I sign off, I want to thank everyone who called me today!!! Each call and birthday wish helped brighten my day!

Time to go relieve my arm from this bandage. I can't wait to see the bruise I have. If you've thought about giving blood, but have been to afraid like me... let me know and you can come with me in October.

Email Lists

So I just woke up and decided to hop on the computer to check my email and baseball team. Surprisingly, I already had 5 birthday wish messages... the most exciting being from Sugarland and Rascal Flatts. You wouldn't believe the special coupons Borders and Skechers put together just for my birthday. Unbelievable that they all took time out of day for little ole me.

Drum roll please

I was so amped all day that by the time I got to meet them, I was down to a normal energy level. Glad that happened, so I didn't scare them. I was the first person in line as they came off the tour bus to meet us outside behind the stage.

Jennifer commented on me shirt "I'm really excited to be here" and then introduced herself and asked my name. Then I turned to Kristian and jokingly asked him what his name was. He told me with a chuckle and gave me a pat on the back.

They slung their arms around me and I hope we all smiled and kept our eyes open for the photo. I was afraid to spend too much time with them, so asked them just one question. I asked if Irreplaceable would be on the CD. Jennifer started to say yes and then Kristian interrupted to correct her, it was kind of funny. I was hoping it was going to be a hidden track.

I said bye and then dropped off my signed 8x10 in the car for safe keeping. After having been out in the hot sun for 5 hours at that point I realized I actually smelled kind of nice... I smelled like Sugarland. Their perfume/cologne rubbed off on me.

A couple neat things during the concert. A portion of the proceeds went to a local school district to help pay for computers. They talked quite a bit to the audience, compared to when I saw them last year (I like hearing about the songs.) Plus, they pulled up most of the crew on stage to introduce them. They also signed a guitar and gave it to a young girl in the audience.

Still Waiting

So, I'm still waiting for my Meet and Greet photo. I've told the full story to most people and love talking about it, so just ask and I'll fill you in. Below is the line of cars I was sitting in that was a good mile from the actual entrance to the venue... an hour prior to the gates opening! This would be the long shot of the "field" where the concert was held. I'm standing in front of the food tent on the far end. The main stage is all the way back, in the middle. To the left of that and closer is where they had the local band setup. The far left length of the field was an amazing long row of port-0-potties.
This is a view from my little through rug, just off the right side of the stage. I would say the equivalent of row 3 or 4 at a Sheryl Crow concert. Quite nice, but ended up being packed in like sardines.
Getting lost in the moment of the concert, I forgot to save most of the pictures I took. This is the best of the lot, unfortunately. Jenn (green) and Kristian (black/white) are at the microphone near the middle. They didn't seem nearly that small in person. I could see absolutely all of there facial expressions.
I'll post more when I finally get my photo!

Today

I found out this is totally going to be me!

Yesterday

Yesterday I stopped over at the Iadipaolo's for a girls' night with Sandra and Sofia. I decided to share my wildflowers with them and brought over a few. Thanks for the pic, Sandra.
At work yesterday, Jenny's shirt frightened me just a bit!

The Season Has Ended

Another co-ed softball season is in the books. Too bad this one didn't have a happier ending. Oh well, I guess you'll have that. We spent the rest of the evening watching the Home Run Derby and thinking of team names for next year. I believe we have decided on Monos Locos (Crazy Monkeys). Sandra already has some great ideas for shirt designs and maybe even a sponsor.

I figured out the monkey name I was trying to think of. Just in case we do put monkey names on the back of our shirts. I would like to be Bogey... one of my favorite childhood stuffed animals. He was on a cartoon called Shirt Tales. I wish I could have found a larger photo online.

I couldn't resist

I had to go see Hancock, even though it got bad reviews. I hadn't seen or heard any details about it, other than seeing the "whale toss" in the Best Buy commercials.

Even though it wasn't the typical superhero movie, I certainly liked it!

Can you believe it?

The Cubs traded Eric Patterson! I liked him ever since he was a Chief, but maybe he'll get more playing time in Oakland and really bust out in the majors. We did get Rich Harden and I've liked him since I had him on my fantasy baseball team quite awhile ago.

These are my wildflowers from the backyard. I never thought they'd get this tall and be so plentiful. It's fun to see what new color I have in the morning.
I broke my potato masher. How you ask? Well, I was mashing some bananas and hit the side of the bowl and it just bent. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Jenny can locate the one she packed away for a garage sale.

Getting down to business.

Yesterday was quite a bit of playing, and today I really need to hop to it. I spent most of the day at the parents' house yesterday. Dad and I picked a ton of apricots and a few cherries. I helped Mom in the kitchen making a few things, including the apricot coconut bars! I watched the Cubs blow the game to the Cardinals and then we all sat down to dinner. Grandpa treated us to some wonderful steaks that Dad grilled to perfection. Can you believe that Tom finished 4th (in his age group?) in the Firecracker race and didn't even bring it up at dinner? Congrats Senor Olson.

Anyway, I should really get to work around and outside the house. Enjoy the last day of the long weekend!
