Reliving February 3rd with Little Big Town and The Parents

So, if I get busy or I'm in a funk, then I don't turn on the computer at night. The last week and a half have had a bit of both. Tonight I still have a gurgley stomach and cloudy head, but needed to catch up on some emails, so here I am.

The weekend before last was super busy and started off with Mom, Dad and I taking a road trip to St. Louis for a Little Big Town concert at the Lumiere Hotel & Casino.

I sneakily signed Mom, Dad, and myself up for a meet and greet with the band and we were all granted a meet & greet. Mom inquired about their new album (recording next month), Dad got a 8x10 signed for a donation to Life Flight, and I got my latest yearly photo book signed by them.

Left to Right: Phillip, Kimberly, Dad, Mom, Myself, Karen, Jimi

Dad had a chance to speak with Phillip, while Mom chatted it up with Kimberly and I hogged Karen and Jimi (they're the married couple in the group). I got to relive the Firebird Fly photo they signed to Mom last year and showed them those photos in my book. I slyly asked if they'd be singing Firebird Fly that night.

Karen: No, I don't think we have it in the set list tonight.
Jane: Oh, just curious, it's my Mom's favorite song.
Karen: Well, what set are you coming to tonight?
Jane: We'll all be at the first one and then I'm coming by myself to the second.
(Now I can see Karen's wheels turning)
Karen: We might be able to work that in to the first set. Yeah, that could possibly work if look at the set list right after this.
(This is when Mom's attention finally turns our direction)
Mom: Oh, no, you don't have to bother with that.
Karen: We should be able to get it in... if we just move this around and....
(Then I just remember a bunch of hand gestures between Karen and Mom, but as I walked away)
Jimi: Can I see that?
I hand him the photo book.
Jimi: Karen, see, look at my shirt in this photo. You see that, that's what color the shirt was before it went to the dry cleaner.

Absolutely Priceless!

And, yes, Karen snuck Firebird Fly about midway into the first set. Mom and I stood up singing along and got a wave from both Kimberly and Karen. I'm grinning from ear to ear just thinking about it. It was such a magical evening!!!

When I told Tom about our adventure, I mentioned that he's going to get drug along next time.

Here's a quick clip from the second set where I got to sit in the 4th row!

GREAT posting! I enjoyed seeing them sing with the old-fashioned microphone. Nicely done, Jane! Momma
