I wasn't alone on this one.

So, I've been watching my fair share of Olympics lately. Okay, that may be an understatement. Today finished off with a little Olympic hockey at the Iadipaolo's. Unfortunately, the lucky Torino 2006 stocking cap I have didn't do the trick and Canada beat the US.

As I wait to watch the closing ceremonies this evening, I see newscaster Mary Carillo for the um-teenth time. It finally dawned on me who see looks similar to, and I'm apparently not the only one who has come to this conclusion.

Making the World a Better Place, One Sheet at a Time

I was thinking earlier today of a step that I'm sure would benefit everyone and would only make the world a happier and better place to live. I propose that all toilet paper be perforated.

I'm sure each individual at some point over their life has played a game of tug-o-war with a toilet paper dispenser at a rest area, super market, mall, or sporting venue bathroom. The plastic serrated edges literally don't cut it. By the time you tear your way through, you're left with a large enough ball of toilet paper to make an 8-year-old into mummy for Halloween.

The last place anyone needs a hassle is when they're doing their business. The world would be a happier place if all toilet paper was perforated. No more never-ending pieces of toilet paper making you wonder if it will clog the toilet when you go to flush. No more wasted toilet paper, leading you think of how you just flushed a tree down the toilet. And if perforation was mandatory, then factories would have to meet the demand... creating more jobs!

I know what you're thinking, some toilet paper is too thin... you'd only get one square at time. Now, don't jump to conclusions and blame that on the toilet paper. That is a simple design flaw in industrial toilet paper dispensers. A small alteration in the diameter of toilet paper cardboard tubes would easily make that problem disappear. I'll leave it to the T.P. Techs to set those standards.

I'm very optimistic and think I can get people on-board with this idea... it would be a win-win all the way around. Less time wasted in the facilities equals more time for work or play.

Maybe next I'll tackle the controversy of which is the correct way to place toilet paper on the roll. My vote goes for over, not under. But then again, as long as there's actually toilet paper in the dispenser when you need it, what's there to argue.

Who ever said candles are a fire hazard?

Guess I should have trimmed the wick.

Chocolate

I needed some chocolate the other day at work, so I walked over to CVS and picked out some Absolutely Divine Chocolate Chip Cookies. With a whole box, I would be able to share with my coworkers.

Little did I know that I would have to walk around the office asking people if they wanted some Cookie Bits.

Rascal Flatts Concert

Here's a couple photos from the Rascal Flatts / Darius Rucker concert I went to with Mom and Aunt Cheryl on Thursday. They all sounded great... I got to hear a little Mayberry and few Hootie and the Blowfish songs. I only wish I had been feeling 100%. Gosh darn cold.

The stage was super cool. This is Gary of Rascal Flatts standing at the far end. There were arms/walkways at the very end and also in the middle of the arena.
The main stage was even in two levels. They entered and exited from the top and then took stairs down either side to the main stage. The stage had an ever-changing background with all the screens.
Here's Mom with the Flatts before the concert.

Olympics

I woke up today without feeling like I was running on empty. It was quite nice, but I made sure I didn't over do it today. Just made a run to the grocery store and took in some more Olympics. I am amazed by the people that do the moguls... watching it just makes my knees ache.

Because of the downhill competitions being postponed, I actually watched the biathlon and nordic combined competitions. They were pretty neat to watch, although I could have done without the snot running down their faces. Some guys were just as bad as Hooch from the movie Turner and Hooch... ewwwwww.

Saturday

Yet another day of not feeling well. I woke up and finished watching the Olympic opening ceremonies, which I should have watched with the Iadipaolo's, but didn't want to spread my germs. Plus, I went to bed sometime between 9 and 9:30... okay, maybe not actually went to bed, more like fell asleep.

I thought I was up to going to Sofia's birthday party, but I was wrong. I did get to drop off her present, and hopefully didn't spread any germs in doing so. Nothing sounds good for dinner, so I think I may just have cereal or something. I must have a cold because isn't the the saying "starve a cold, feed a fever"?

Anyway, here's footage of tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum. Sorry about the raspy voice, although I do sound better than first thing in the morning.

Silver Lining on a Cloudy Day

A not so fun cold bug sunk it's teeth into me yesterday and I couldn't shake it. This morning I woke up with an awful headache, sore throat, and just plain old tiredness. Not wanting to spread germs, I opted to stay home from work. I've been pushing fluids and taking it easy. Nap time is coming up soon, but I had to post something that made my day.

According to Homer, the Chiefs mascot... my big brothers, Tom and Jim, and my parents were have been thinking of me. I'm kind of glad Homer didn't find the doorbell and kindly left the Happy Valentine's flowers and card on the porch for me. I was not up for the photo op today.

I don't know who the mastermind behind it all was... all I know is that it was perfect timing and I am truly touched.

This means so much to me because I've had a rough couple of weeks with my anxiety flaring up. I went back to the doctor last week when I felt myself sinking, but am hopefully back on the road to being myself. I need to give it time and remember that I have one of the best support systems anyone could ask for.

Thank you!
I would give you all hugs, if I didn't have cooties right now!

Check

Tonight
-feed "starving" animals... check
-feed self... check
-do the Wii... check
-bake a banana bread... check
-change all batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors... check

Tomorrow
-wake up rested after sleeping through the night without waking up to dieing batteries in the carbon monoxide detector
-feed "starving" animals
-feed coworkers banana bread
-continue on with the daily routine

Question
I mentioned this to a couple of my coworkers the other day. If there was a roly-poly (pill bug) sitting on the edge of table... and I sneezed right next to it, sending it a rollin'... do you think I would have helped it set a land speed record for insects?
